Bulls rumor: Insiders predict Josh Gidey will receive $120 million contract

NBA insider Jack Fischer believes Chicago Bulls guard Josh Gidey will receive a contract of about $120 million. The team reaped huge returns after the Chicago Bulls traded Josh Gidey. The Australian player proved himself a key member of the team's roster in the 2024-25 season, averaging 14.6 points, 8.1 rebounds and 7.2 assists per game.

Gidey will be a restricted free agent this summer, meaning the Bulls can match any offer to him. However, they do seem to want to keep him, and there are rumors that his annual salary may reach $30 million.

In fact, NBA insider Jack Fischer predicts Gidey is seeking a contract extension of no less than $120 million:

"Chicago Bulls Josh Gidey and Philadelphia 76ers Quentin Grimes are two other restricted free agents who will soon face their own challenges in this market as well. The Philadelphia 76ers have always been confident about their ability to renew Grimes, but let's see. So are the Bulls, who are reaching a deal with Gidey for the five-year contract the Australian midfielder is seeking, which is usually expected to be no less than $120 million," Fischer wrote.

After the All-Star Game, especially after Zach Laven was traded, Gidey found new impetus for the Bulls. He averaged 21.2 points, 10.7 rebounds and 9.3 assists per game.

The midfielder also viewed LaVine's outstanding performance as a turning point in his career in Chicago.

Fox Sports Australia report:

"The situation was unusual in the first half of this year, so naturally I would want to come here to integrate into the team," Gidey said.

"This was my initial idea. I never thought of coming here to try, not to annoy others, but to change the overall style of players and team play.

"But I think it took me a while to get used to it. Obviously, the trade deadline is when Zach is traded, and he obviously contributes a lot to our performance here.

"This opens the door to advance for others. I think it's an opportunity to take on greater responsibilities on both sides of the offense and defense."

Gidy had a salary of only $8.4 million last season, so his salary will rise sharply. He has proven himself to be a key member of the Bulls' future, which means the team should do everything possible to keep him. After Laven leaves, Gidey may become one of the cornerstones of the team's progress. If that's the case, he should be able to earn more each season.
