According to Jazz reporter Andy Larsen, the Lakers are interested in getting Jazz player John Collins through a trade.

Collins has a $26.58 million player option next season. This season, he played 40 games for the Jazz, averaging 19.0 points, 8.2 rebounds and 2.0 assists per game, shooting 52.7% from the field, 39.9% from three-point shooting percentage and 84.8% from free throw percentage.

The Lakers lost to the Timberwolves 1-4 in the first round of this year's playoffs. Head coach Redick used a center-free lineup in the second half of the fourth game and the fifth game of the series. As the Lakers send Anthony Davis to the Mavericks in a blockbuster deal involving Doncic, the team is in urgent need of a center. President Pelinka revealed to local reporters at the season summary conference that he will try to introduce centers during the offseason.

Pelinka said: "We know that one of the main goals in the offseason is to add body shape to the center position in the frontcourt. The lineup requires more height and a regular center - this is the inevitable result of sending the league's top big man to Dallas to get point guard, which obviously leaves a huge lineup gap. The time pressure around the trade deadline has left us with no time to completely fill the inside, but now we have plenty of time to operate."

Collins played for the Hawks and Jazz, and averaged 16.0 points, 8.1 rebounds and 1.5 assists per game in 472 NBA games in his career.
