The Cavaliers defeated the Grizzlies 108-100 at home today, giving the Grizzlies their 4th consecutive defeat. The Cavaliers' record reached 9 wins and 5 losses, continuing to rank third in the Eastern Conference. The Grizzlies have a record of only 4 wins and 10 losses, ranking fourth from the bottom in the Western Conference. They are also the fourth team in the Western Conference to have lost 10 games after the Kings, Mavericks, and Pelicans.

Although the Grizzlies were playing away from home and Morant exited the game early due to injury, the Grizzlies were basically in the lead in the first three quarters. For the Grizzlies, Morant exited the game due to calf soreness after only playing 6 minutes in the first quarter. Coward, the No. 11 pick, started for 25 minutes, making 3 of 9 shots, 2 of 6 three-pointers, and scored 10 points, 8 rebounds and 2 assists.
