As the 2025 NBA offseason approaches, ESPN's NBA insider Shams Charania lists the preferred trading destination for Suns star Kevin Durant.

Kevin Durant has been active in trading rumors, and the Phoenix Suns are seeking to reorganize the roster. According to ESPN's NBA insider Shams Charania, they may have their own way out.

Charania reported on Saturday that Durant's top teams include the Miami Heat, San Antonio Spurs and Houston Rockets.

" Sources told ESPN that the Miami Heat, San Antonio Spurs and Houston Rockets are the teams that 15-time All-Star Kevin Durant wants to trade most after leaving the Phoenix. In recent days, people from all walks of life in the NBA have learned that Durant will play for these three teams for a long time," Chalania wrote.

"Durant's 2025-26 contract is about to expire, worth $54.7 million. The Suns have made it clear to 6 to 8 interested teams that they will offer the best deals for the team - even outside of his favorite Miami, San Antonio and Houston." What is the offseason prospect for Kevin Durant and the Suns?

Kevin Durant has played for the Suns since the mid-2022-23 season and has led the team into the playoffs twice. However, they ended regretfully with a record of 36 wins and 46 losses in the 2024-25 season and missed the playoffs.

In his 145 games with the Suns, he averaged 26.8 points, 6.3 rebounds, 4.6 assists and 1.2 blocks per game. He shot 52.7% from the field, with 42.7% from three-pointers and 84.7% from free throws.

Durant has proven that he can still play at the top level even at the age of 36. However, the Suns failed to improve the depth of the lineup to revolve around Durant, Devin Booker and Bradley Beal, resulting in the team's final record.

If the Heat can introduce Durant, they will have an advantage on the offensive end and have a top scorer to make up for the shortcomings on the offensive end. The San Antonio Spurs will raise their cap as they will form the star trident of Durant, Victor Vimbaniama and De Aaron Fox. As for the Rockets, they will have a reliable scorer to improve the offense. They were particularly bad in this regard in the first-round series loss to the Golden State Warriors.

The Suns have many ways to solve the lineup problem this offseason. Ultimately, they may give up one of the best scorers in NBA history. However, this may be the only way for them to start a new era of Phoenix basketball.
