Pierce: The Nuggets should trade with the King and trade Porter Jr. for DeRozan

Former Boston Celtics star Paul Pierce recently talked about the situation the Denver Nuggets may face in the following offseason in a show. Pierce believes that the Nuggets should send away Michael Porter Jr., who was underperforming in the playoffs, and use him to trade DeMar DeRozan of the Sacramento Kings.

Pearce said: The Nuggets should definitely find a way to get DeRozan this summer. In my opinion, if the Nuggets lineup can have players like DeRozan now, and the existence of Nikola Jokic, the top center, then Jokic will not need to play the role of the team's best or second-best player every night. He doesn't want to play so hard, the pressure on him will be much less, and the team will become more threatening on the offensive end. There is no doubt that he will bring you more than Porter Jr.

In the NBA regular season this season, Porter Jr. made a total of 77 appearances in 82 games, averaging 33.7 minutes per game, averaging 18.2 points, 7 rebounds, 2.1 assists, 0.6 steals and 0.5 blocks, and 1.4 turnovers and 2 fouls. His shooting percentage was 50.4%, three-point shooting percentage was 39.5%, and free throw shooting percentage was 76.8%. In the playoffs, Porter Jr. made a total of 14 appearances, averaging 31.1 minutes per game, with averaging 9.1 points, 5.5 rebounds, 0.6 assists, 0.6 steals and 0.4 blocks, and 0.9 turnovers and 1.9 fouls. His shooting percentage was 39.2%, a three-point shooting percentage of 34.3%, and a free throw shooting percentage of 71.4%. In the NBA regular season this season, DeRozan made a total of 77 appearances in 82 games, averaging 35.9 minutes per game, averaging 22.2 points, 3.9 rebounds, 4.4 assists, 0.8 steals, and 0.4 blocks. He also had 1.4 turnovers and 1.9 fouls, shooting percentage of 47.7%, three-point shooting percentage of 32.8%, and free throw shooting percentage of 85.7%.

Potter Jr. performed very poorly during the playoffs. His offensive efficiency was a mess and his scoring ability was not fully utilized. On the one hand, we need to admit that Porter Jr.'s performance in the playoffs was indeed affected by injuries, but on the other hand, Porter Jr.'s characteristics and playing style really determine that it is difficult for him to take on more responsibilities on the court. If Porter Jr. can only play like this, considering that the Nuggets have no substitute players to use during the playoffs, his role on the court is indeed too limited. As for DeRozan, even if his form declines, at least his scoring ability is worthy of recognition, and he can still use his personal ability to play a huge role on the offensive end. I just don’t know what reason the King has to complete the deal with the Nuggets and eat Porter Little while sending DeRozan away.
