Scout: Simmons can say he will choose to retire, but the reality is that no one wants him

September 6th September 2016 No. 1 pick Ben Simmons is still a free agent and is reportedly considering retirement. Several NBA insiders were interviewed by HoopsWire reporter Sam Amico and talked about Simmons' situation.

An NBA executive said, "I think his NBA career is over, and it's not to belittle him. I think he can still play and maybe help some teams. But there are so many disadvantages for him right now. I know we won't be interested in signing him."

A scout said, "I think no one is really interested in him except for some teams testing the situation, so if he really retires, he can say that it's his choice. But I think it's very likely that the teams made a decision for him. He can still provide a team with defense, possession and good backup guard performance for a championship team, but that has to be the right situation. And he needs to understand that some nights he may not play more than 10 minutes."
