On July 1, according to NBA reporter Shams, the new double MVP Alexander reached an early contract renewal agreement with the Thunder. The new contract lasts for 4 years and the total salary is as high as US$285 million.
It is understood that the average salary of this new contract of Alexander is US$71.25 million, of which US$63.525 million in the first year, US$68.607 million in the second year, US$73.689 million in the third year, and US$78.771 million in the fourth year.
In July last year, Tatum signed a five-year contract extension with the Celtics with a total salary of $315 million. Alexander's contract extension has also allowed him to replace Tatum and become the highest salary in NBA history.
In addition, it is worth mentioning that although the Thunder provides an NBA historical maximum salary contract, in fact, the Thunder is equivalent to picking up "cheap", because according to the rules, if the Thunder delays until next summer's contract renewal, Alexander can sign up to a five-year contract renewal with a total value of US$380 million.
This season, Alexander averaged 32.7 points, 5.0 rebounds and 6.4 assists per game in the regular season, with a shooting percentage of 51.9% and a three-point shooting percentage of 37.5%; in the playoffs, Alexander's data did not drop significantly, and he could average 29.9 points, 5.3 rebounds and 6.5 assists per game, with a shooting percentage of 46.2%, and a three-point shooting percentage of 28.3%.
