On May 6, 2025, Chinese men's basketball star Yang Hansen officially started pre-draft special training arranged by Klutch Sports in Los Angeles.

This special training is served as the chief trainer by Chris Johnson, who has coached top NBA stars such as LeBron James, Dwyane Wade, Chris Paul, Jimmy Butler, Jaylen Brown.

This news was officially announced by Yang Hansen's Chinese brokerage company Aosda International Sports: "From May 5 (May 6), US time, Yang Hansen will participate in the special training arranged by Klutch in Los Angeles." It also attached encouragement: "Come on Xiao Yang @ Yang Hans"

As a player under Klutch Sports, Yang Hansen will receive professional guidance at the NBA level during this special training, covering shooting stability, defensive footsteps, physical fitness strengthening, tactical understanding and other aspects.

Chris Johnson is known for his strict training style. He helped James complete his physical fitness upgrade in the 2012 offseason, helping him win his first career championship.

Yang Hansen's special training plan is expected to last until May 11, and he will then go to Chicago to participate in the NBA draft joint trial and undergo practical inspections of various teams. Currently, his draft prediction pick is in the middle of the second round (40-50). If he can make progress in this special training, he is expected to hit a higher pick.

Since Zhou Qi was selected by the Rockets with the 43rd pick in 2016, Chinese players have performed poorly in the NBA draft. Although Choi Yongxi briefly joined the Nets in 2024, she was cut due to injury and failed to gain a foothold. Yang Hansen's attempt to the NBA this time carries the hope of Chinese basketball returning to the world's top league.

In the CBA this season, Yang Hansen averaged 16.6 points, 10.5 rebounds and 2.6 blocks per game, and was awarded the Best Star Sharp Player and Block King, showing excellent franchise protection ability and support potential.

However, the NBA scout report pointed out that his movement speed and outside projection stability still need to be improved. This special training is a targeted strengthening by Klutch Sports to address its shortcomings.

Due to Klutch Sports' close relationship with the Lakers (which owns stars such as James and Davis), the outside world speculates that the Lakers may use the second round pick (it is expected to have two second round picks). If he can show progress in the joint trial, his draft market may usher in a breakthrough.

From May 11 to 18, Yang Hansen will undergo a comprehensive inspection of the NBA team in Chicago, and his performance will directly affect the final draft results. Chinese fans look forward to the 19-year-old talented center who can become another Chinese player who has gained a foothold in the NBA after Yao Ming.
