In the field of basketball, strength training is a key part of players' improvement of their own strength, and dumbbells are popular among players as basic and practical training equipment. Below, we focus on three domestic and foreign players, Zhou Qi, Yao Ming and O'Neal, to see how they differ in dumbbell training.

Zhou Qi

Zhou Qi was selected by the Rockets in 2017 with his outstanding physical talent. However, his experience in the NBA was like a short dream. He was cut in less than two seasons and had no choice but to return to the CBA. The reason is that the lack of power confrontation is a key factor that cannot be avoided.

In daily training, the dumbbells used by Zhou Qi are only about 5 kg. For a player who shoulders the heavy responsibility of attacking the inside, such a level of strength seems to be stretched in the NBA's fierce battles and frequent muscle collisions. In the confrontation with strong inside players from Europe and the United States, Zhou Qi's thin figure is difficult to occupy a favorable position at the basket, nor can he maintain a stable shot after the confrontation. Although Zhou Qi can still shine with his own technology and height advantages after returning to the CBA, if he is eager to hit the top international stage again, improving muscle strength and enhancing confrontation ability is undoubtedly a gap that must be crossed.

Yao Ming

As the number one player in Chinese basketball, Yao Ming's success is by no means accidental. When he first entered the NBA, Yao Ming's physical confrontation ability was not outstanding in front of a group of strong inside players in the league, but with his extraordinary perseverance and hard training attitude, he quickly proved that his identity as the No. 1 pick was not a false reputation.

In order to adapt to the intensity of the NBA, Yao Ming devoted a lot of time and energy to strength training. As can be seen from the figure, the dumbbells he used weigh about 40 kg each, totaling about 80 kg. Through hard training day after day, Yao Ming's muscle strength has made a qualitative leap. In the game, he was able to fight against top insiders such as O'Neal and Howard at the basket with his strong body. Whether it was his stable support when playing back singles, his hook shot after the confrontation, or his position in the rebounding game, he was inseparable from his strong strength as a backing.

O'Neal

"Sharks" O'Neal is the most dominant center in NBA history. His huge body, amazing strength and excellent basketball talent make him almost unrivaled at the basket. Although O'Neal's personality revealed a little lazy and was not extremely enthusiastic about training, the strength training intensity he showed was still shocking when he stepped into the gym.

The dumbbells used for training are about 50 kilograms, which is almost ten times the weight of the dumbbells used by Zhou Qi. With such strength training foundation and his outstanding talent, O'Neal almost exists like a bug in the inside. It is no exaggeration to say that at his peak, no one could limit O'Neal except for the shark-cutting tactics.

The gap between Zhou Qi, Yao Ming and O'Neal in strength training, what we can see is not only the difference in strength numbers, but also a comprehensive reflection of many factors such as training philosophy, career pursuit and physical fitness. For Chinese basketball, the gap in strength training between young players such as Zhou Qi sounded the alarm for us. Strength is one of the basic elements of basketball, especially for inside players, the strength of strength directly affects the performance and the upper limit of career development in the game.
