The Warriors set the tone for Kuminga s future! Dunleavy said a quick battle, but his situation is special

For NBA teams, the free agent market is often a very fast-growing proposition. The few days when the free agent market opens on June 30, local time in the United States often determine how things will develop. In most seasons, there are few players left after four or five days.

However, the restricted free agent market often differs because the players' current teams can match the quotes. The process of restricted free agent markets often lasts all summer, and in addition to being difficult to find teams willing to quote, players themselves have difficulty finding chips.

And for the Golden State Warriors, I hope Jonathan Cumingga's situation won't last that long. Team general manager Mike Dunleavy talked about this today and said that no matter what happens, whether it is a deal or a renewal, he will seek to achieve it as soon as possible. Before the free agent market began, according to league regulations, the Warriors, as the parent team, could always negotiate with Kuminga, which helped both sides reach an agreement very quickly.

Dunleavy told reporters: "We can start pursuing free agents now, and I honestly think we are in a good position. He is a restricted free agent and we have the ability to get him back. I think there will be good negotiations to happen, and it would be great if I can find a solution as soon as possible. But I also admit that these things may drag on for a while with free agents restricted and take some time."

Kuminga is the 7th pick in the first round of 2021, but his performance on the team has been unstable. He fell out of the rotation after Jimmy Butler traded in February, but after Stephen Curry was injured, he played well in the playoffs.

The Warriors can keep him by negotiating a new contract with him, or seeking a sign-on and then exchange deal, but either way, Kumingga must be involved in the next move. And when asked why he wanted to act quickly, Dunleavy said: "I think in the free agent market, what else we need to add, and how much we have to spend in base salary, exceptions and other different types of contracts. I think the earlier (deciding this) is better for everyone, and it's also for him. But as I said, the restricted free agent market may be different, so we may have to be patient."
