8 years of Premier League waiting for the end? World champion Chelsea s forward line is upgraded, and the goalkeeper s hidden danger is X factor!

Premier League 2025-26 series preview: Can world champion Chelsea dominate the domestic arena? More new faces join, but can Chelsea challenge the championship?

At Stamford Bridge, another crazy summer passed, with nine players joining, spending about £260 million to supplement the squad that won the Club World Cup just a month ago.

Last season, the Blues were ridiculed for their policy of signing young talents and giving huge contracts, but by the end of the season, there were signs that Enzo Maresca was building a truly talented team, and the logic behind it makes more sense than it might seem at first.

So, who is here? Where else do they need to strengthen? How far can they go?

Chelsea signs: The new front team

feels sorry for Nicolas Jackson, who went to the United States as Chelsea's main striker, but when he returned, he became the third choice behind Liam Delap and Joao Pedro.

Pedro shines the field with a few fantastic goals in the Club World Cup, looking like a great candidate to connect Chelsea’s many exciting offensive options, while Drapp is the perfect candidate to serve as a single striker. Can they play together? They add more securience and reliable finishing ability to the forward position of Chelsea's starting lineup.

Jackson may have to give way, but Maresca's new strikers undoubtedly have a lot to do.

They were 15 points behind the champion Liverpool last season. This time you can expect the gap to narrow.

No. 1 goalkeeper is still a problem

Chelsea's other signings are mainly due to the departure of the fringe players, except Noni Madueke.

The England international's transfer to Arsenal was somewhat surprising, but his speed and threat on the wings looked to have been replaced by the latest England rookie Jamie Gittens, who was introduced from Dortmund.

However, there are still questions in the goalkeeper position. Kepa Arrizabalaga performed well last season when he was loaned to Bournemouth but was allowed to leave the team — and also to Arsenal — and the Cherries replaced him with another Chelsea abandoned Djordje Petrovic.

This makes Robert Sanchez the No. 1 goalkeeper and Filip Jorgensen as a substitute. Is this enough to win the Premier League? Not yet known.

Can Palmer be fully fired?

Cole Palmer's stunning performance for Chelsea in the 2023/24 season, scoring 25 goals and creating countless opportunities, but he seemed to hit a wall around Christmas (had a decline in form).

Palmer's two assists in the Europa League finals show that he remains the key man for the Blues and he also performed very well during the Club World Cup.

If Maresca can get Palmer to full fire again, plus Pedro, Drapp, Pedro Neto, Gittens, new aid Estevao and Christopher Nkunku, then Chelsea could be a force that really needs to be taken seriously.

It has been eight years since Chelsea last won the Premier League title. This is probably the closest they have ever been since.
