DO: Ghana midfielder Thomas joins Villarreal without a signing, both sides sign for 2 years

Hupu August 3, TheAthleticUK ace reporter David Ornstein's latest report, former Arsenal midfielder Thomas Paltey is about to join Villarreal.

32-year-old Paltey has undergone a medical examination and is expected to sign a two-year contract with the Spanish club until 2027.

The Ghana international left Arsenal after his contract expired in June and is currently a free agent. Being able to continue playing in the Champions League is considered an important factor in his transfer to Villarreal. On July 4, Parthi was charged with five counts of rape and one count of sexual assault. He denied the allegations. He was the subject of an investigation that began in February 2022 and has been playing for the Premier League club until the contract expires.

He will appear in Westminster District Court on Tuesday, August 5.

According to TheAthletic, Parthi had negotiated on staying at Emirates Stadium but failed to agree on the terms of the deal.

Paltey made 52 appearances for Arsenal in the 2024-25 season. In 2020, he transferred from Atletico Madrid to Arsenal for €50 million.

Paltey mainly plays as midfielder, but also serves as right-back. He plays 167 times for Arsenal and scores 9 goals.
