October 18th After several failed coaching experiences, Red Devils legend Rooney began working as a commentator on the BBC. In an interview with "Goal.net", former Manchester United player Danny Simpson talked about the role that Rooney could play if he returns to Old Trafford.

He said: "I think Rooney can try to coach the forwards or work in the youth academy. For the old players who have paid a lot for the club and care about it, they can definitely play some role. Of course I know it is difficult because they will be surrounded by the media, which is also part of football. And he must be honest about his job challenges and must express his views.

"If you are a forward, you definitely want Rooney to guide you. Imagine if Sheshko can get the help of Rooney, this is definitely a good choice. But as a head coach? I think Rooney has no chance. Although some of the teams he took over were actually in trouble, and he didn't get the recognition he deserved.

"But the performance of that Birmingham team was quite good and everyone was very happy. As a result, Rooney went to be the manager and destroyed that harmony. But in some other clubs, he did take over at critical moments.

"I would like to see Wayne Rooney return to Manchester United to help the young players. If I were a striker who could be coached by Rooney, I would keep asking him all kinds of questions - what to do in this situation, what to do in that situation? This is something I would like to see. "

Rooney's eldest son Kai is currently a player in the Manchester United youth training and is also considered a young forward with great potential. When asked whether Wayne can help Kai enter the Manchester United first team, Simpson said: "I have watched a few games of Kai's games and he is very good - very similar to his father, but he is left-footed!

"Carrick and Ruud van Nistelrooy have both returned to Manchester United to serve, and Darren Fletcher is now the head coach of the Manchester United U18 team. He has already started his coaching career. If the club has the opportunity to bring these old players back, I think they should push for it. As for whether Rooney is willing to accept it, I am not sure."
