Hupu August 27th: Leverkusen has let go of several top players this summer, and the departure of star defender Piero Inkapier seems to be imminent. In an exclusive interview with RTL/ntv and sport.de, Leverkusen sports director Simon Rollfies made a clear statement on the transfer. Contrary to reports, there are currently no signs of players leaving the team.

According to previous media reports, defender Inkapier will become the next main player to leave Leverkusen this summer. His contract is valid until 2029 and is reportedly containing a termination clause of approximately €65 million. According to The Athletic, the 23-year-old hopes to join Arsenal in the Premier League, with Tottenham and Chelsea also potential suitors.

However, the transfer has not yet been settled, as sports director Rollfers confirmed in an exclusive interview with RTL/ntv and sport.de: "We have not received any official offer from the club, so he is our player. That's the status quo."

Leverkusen "naturally hopes" to keep the Ecuador international, whose contract just renewed last winter. "He knew we value him very much and hoped he would stay with us."

Several Leverkusen core players left the team this summer. The club knows that such a "change" is possible. “It’s also part of the success and the result.” Instead, they are now optimistic about the future, with Rolfis saying they “have signed many really interesting players.”

For possible new signings, the former Leverkusen captain announced: "The transfer window will be open until Monday night. Therefore, something may still happen."
