August 3: After Atlanta rejected Inter Milan's 45 million euro offer, Lukeman announced through social media that he hoped to leave the team and had submitted a formal transfer application.

Lukeman wrote:

In the past three years in Atlanta, I have devoted my best not only as a footballer, but also as an ordinary person. I always wear this jersey with a proud attitude and try my best to represent the club and the city of Bergamo with enthusiasm and dedication.

When I came here, with the hope of helping this special club grow, we created unforgettable memories together. The night I won the Europa League, stood side by side with my teammates in Dublin, and celebrated with our fans, was one of the proudest moments of my career so far. Looking back, it still makes me excited.

Atlanta, especially its fans, has become a part of me. From the moment I came here, it felt like home, and I have been working hard to repay this love – even in difficult moments behind the scenes.

This is why writing this letter is so difficult. I love every moment here, but I feel that after three wonderful years in Bergamo, it’s time to move on and take on a new adventure. There have been many clubs in the past that have contacted Atlanta and I have always been loyal. However, I agreed with the club’s owners that it was the right time and the club also told me clearly that if a reasonable offer was received, they would allow me to transfer.

However, despite receiving a offer that meets the conditions for discussion I know, the club has blocked the opportunity for reasons I cannot understand.

So after months of failing promises and the injustice I think I feel like I have had enough of it after I feel like I am having trouble with it. I confirm that I have officially submitted a transfer request.

Even after very difficult times, many of which are not revealed, I always try to put the club, fans and team first, hoping things won’t come to this point, but unfortunately, I feel like there is no choice now.

To the fans - the core of this club - I want to say: I sincerely apologize for the development of things to this point. I hope you can understand this extremely difficult situation. It's just to stick to what I think is fair and right. The support you have always given me is invaluable, and the bond we have built together is very special.

I hope to work with the club and find a solution that is friendly to all parties as soon as possible. With love and gratitude,
