November 26th: In the fifth round of the UEFA Champions League, Marseille defeated Newcastle 2-1. After the game, Pavard was interviewed by the media.

Pavar, considering how difficult the start of this game was, what was your first feeling after winning this victory?

"It was great! I think it took us five to ten minutes to get into the groove. The first goal was a bit silly, but then we controlled the ball well and attacked with all our strength in the second half, and finally turned the situation around. The most important thing is to win. We showed great courage, the whole team worked hard from the first minute to the last minute, and the atmosphere was extremely enthusiastic. I am still excited when I think about it now."

How important is this victory?

"After losing 0-1 to Atalanta, we had to respond. I don't want to dwell too much on that game and what happened, but we dropped points along the way, so we had to win tonight. We did that, and we're very happy about it. It was very intense in the first and second half, and we gave everything we had for each other. We played a real Champions League game tonight. Now, we have to rest as soon as possible because we have an important game against Toulouse on the weekend."

Has the offseason been good for you personally?

"It's true that I went through a trough period. But I didn't get discouraged and kept working hard. This is not the first time in my career that this has happened, but I have a lot of experience and I have played for some big clubs, so I know that my luck will always get better. Things are getting better now, but I can't get carried away. I'm very satisfied with my performance, but even more satisfied with the team's performance, which is the most important to me."

How did you guide the young Daryl Bakola to make his Champions League debut?

"Bacola is a very talented young player, and he has proven it. Being able to start in the Champions League at the age of 17 is enough to prove his strength. I didn't communicate with him too much, I just told him to play to his strengths and enjoy the game. His performance tonight was very good."
