Hupu September 12th Daily Mail Liverpool team reporter Lewis Steele wrote Liverpool weekly newspaper.

Liverpool sent a scout to watch several games against Brazilian giant Santos this year - they came here to keep an eye on the son of former Real Madrid and Manchester City star Robinho.

17-year-old Robinho Jr. is about to become a first-team player at the Sao Paulo club, which includes Pele, Neymar and Rodrigo.

Although Robinho Jr. often comes on as a substitute, Reds scout Dasler Max has been here to watch many of his games this season. Neymar returned to Santos last year and spent a lot of time with the teenager on the court.

Robinho, the old man, joined Manchester City in 2008, played 180 times for the club he played for when he was a child, scoring 81 goals, and then transferred to Real Madrid at a high price in 2005. Later in his career, he returned to Santos twice and played for AC Milan. His son is now wearing a No. 7 jersey in Santos.

Chelsea are also paying close attention to Robinho Jr., with their South American scouting team led by former Corinthian chief scout Alison Mariins.

As father Robinho is currently serving nine years in Brazil for rape in 2013, the Santos club is very cautious to avoid the team star they see as too much in the spotlight, especially after considering other sensitive news surrounding the Robinho family.

His mother was his de facto agent and his termination clause was reportedly as high as £43 million.

But Liverpool and other scouts are still paying close attention, and it may be worth watching as the Premier League champion team continues to seek to acquire the best young players in the market.
