October 07 Szczesny’s personal documentary premiered yesterday. In an interview with Polish media, he talked about his meeting with Wenger many years later.

Szczesny joined Arsenal’s youth training in 2006. After being abandoned by Wenger in 2015, he joined Roma on loan.

After meeting Wenger again after many years, Szczesny said: "The happiest thing for me was definitely meeting Mr. Wenger. Not only for the documentary shooting, but also for my personal wishes. I had retired for a while, so we had the opportunity to communicate candidly.

"After the camera stopped recording, we had dinner and spent several hours together. We had a very sincere and pleasant conversation. In order to make a special trip to Zurich to meet Wenger and resolve all the knots, I even thought it was worth retiring.

"This knot is not bothering me, but I don't know whether it is because of my performance on the field or off-field problems, whether he is disappointed with me or thinks I am insufficient. I need answers. There is no conflict between us, but there is a gap. Now the misunderstanding has finally been eliminated, we have a good relationship, and he is an extremely important person in my career.

" He admitted that excluding me from the team may have been a wrong decision, which makes me particularly gratified. I agree with him that I was too comfortable with the status quo at the time. He gave me a kick when I needed it most. I later proved that I was worthy of being the Arsenal goalkeeper, but if it hadn’t been for that turn of events, I probably wouldn’t be where I am today.

"Although I think he made the wrong decision at the time, it was probably the best arrangement for me and helped me achieve a wonderful career. I have no grudges against Wenger and am only grateful."
