TA: Arsenal has made it clear that it will not renew its contract with Trosad, and the two sides are willing to part ways this summer

Hupu, August 22, recently, the famous media TheAthletic wrote a column about Trosad, talking about the future situation of the Belgian striker at Arsenal, and analyzing his current situation within the Gunners.
The following is the column
It was a dramatic week for Arsenal's forward line. Due to Havertz's injury, the injury situation is still unclear, while Arsenal took the opportunity to intercept Tottenham's pursuit of Eze's midfielder Eze.
For other Arsenal forwards, after a summer speculation about Trosad's future, TheAthletic disclosed on Tuesday that the Belgian striker has reached an agreement with Arsenal on contract adjustments. The 30-year-old received a salary increase, but his contract has not been extended and will expire in 2027.
From this perspective, Arsenal's decision to give Trosad a raise but not extend his contract is quite abnormal. The club has increased its salary investment in the player without extending protection for his contract years.
Here, TheAthletic explores why Arsenal renewed his contract with Trosad, and what Havertz's injury and Eze's upcoming joining meant for the Belgian player.
Why did Arsenal decide to take this step against Trosad?
The first thing to say is that the change in Trosad's contract has nothing to do with Havertz's injury: this was agreed before the start of the Premier League. The contract signed by Trosad when he joined in 2023 is four years long, and by the end of 2027, the club has the option to extend it for one year.
Trosad's performance exceeded expectations after joining Arsenal and made far more contributions than many people expected. In two and a half seasons, he has made 92 appearances in the Premier League, scoring 21 goals and contributing 18 assists. This player, who was originally signed to supplement the lineup, is now often seen in the club's starting lineup.
Given his performance level, Trosad has been striving for better treatment. However, Arsenal has been firm in its attitude, saying that due to his age, they will not be prepared to extend Trosad's contract. He will turn 31 in December, and his existing contract will be quite some time before it expires. The club once said they were willing to reassess Trosad's salary to reflect the increase in importance. This increase in his salary is partly due to fulfilling this promise, but also to reward him for his outstanding performance and make his contract more consistent with the contracts of other core players on the team.
Arsenal and Trosad have been negotiating for some time on improving their salary. TheAthletic reported on the situation in May. The delay in the deal was partly due to Trosad's replacement of brokers midway through the summer transfer window, which inevitably slowed down the trading process.
About Trosad's future decision
Arsenal and Trosad are willing to look for transfer opportunities in the transfer market. As Arsenal made it clear that he would not renew his contract with Trosad, it would be beneficial for him to hear offers from other teams, and both sides were willing to part ways this summer.
Similarly, Arsenal realized that if the right offer was received, it was a reasonable time to sell Trosad now, and they were able to find a suitable replacement. All summer, Arsenal have been willing to reconsider their choice on the left winger and are ready to hear offers about Trosad or Martinelli.
However, there is a time limit for Trosad's transfer. The Premier League stipulates that players' contracts are "modified" - that is, to increase their salary but not extend the contract period can only be performed before the start of the season.
Premier League Manual Section T.26 stipulates: "The club may reach an agreement with the player on a renewal contract at any time to modify the terms of their contract. If such an agreement increases the salary of the contracted player, unless the agreement is reached within the transfer ban period, the terms of the agreement shall provide for the extension of the current contract of the player for the contract for at least one year."
If Arsenal intends to modify Trosard's contract, they will need to complete it before the first round of the Premier League match against Manchester United. By regulations, the deal was approved before the start of the season. As neither Martinelli nor Trosad had clear potential buyers, Arsenal and Trosad agreed to advance contract modifications.
For players, this is a sure-fire deal: he can increase his salary without having to sign a longer-term contract. The stability of longer-term contracts may be attractive, but he may be able to transfer freely in another two years and receive a generous reward. Regardless of Trosad's long-term future, his income will certainly increase in the short term.
From the perspective of Arsenal, this solves a long-standing issue. They hope to recognize Trosad's value and think that the arrangement would satisfy him. Arsenal hopes to have a team of motivated players that feel that their contributions will be recognized.
This also makes Arteta's offensive choice clearer. Throughout the process, the coach has been supporting Trosad. He rated it highly and thought he could be a useful partner.
