As: 5,000 fans celebrate Barcelona s La Liga championship, seven people arrested by police at the event

May 16th According to Catalan police, seven people were arrested by police during the Barcelona fans celebrating the team's La Liga championship.

Of the seven arrested persons, three were arrested for violence or intimidation and robbery, the other three were arrested for theft, and the seventh was arrested for an unexecuted police arrest warrant.

In response to possible celebrations, the Catalan police organized a security measure programme, which included participation of drone units and helicopters. Eventually, more than 5,000 fans gathered in the early hours of the morning at the Canalettas Fountain, a traditional place for Barcelona to celebrate their victory, celebrating the La Liga title that the team won after a 2-0 victory over Espanyol.

Barcelona supporters occupied the Rambla area near Piazza Catalonia and the celebration began shortly after the game. The fans on the scene sang team songs, waved blue and red flags, and lit some fireworks, and some enthusiastic fans even climbed up the street poles of the area to express their joy.
