FIFA launches the selection of the best player of the year: La Liga and Ligue 1 are the big winners, fan voting opens

6:05pm, 8 November 2025【Football】

On November 6, FIFA officially launched the selection of the 2025 Best Men's Player. New Golden Globe winners Dembele, Yamal, Mbappe, etc. led the 11 candidate list. However, last year's best player Vinicius was not selected.

Judging from the leagues where the players are located, La Liga and French Ligue 1 have become the biggest winners, with 4 players each being selected. There are 2 players in the Premier League, 1 player in the Bundesliga, and no one in Serie A.

According to the selection rules, this award selection will focus on the players’ performance from August 11, 2024 to August 2, 2025. The evaluation criteria not only cover on-field competitive achievements, but also include a comprehensive evaluation of off-field behavior and overall team performance.

The current national team coach, each national team captain, one professional media representative from each country, and global registered fans each account for 25% of the voting weight. Each judge is required to nominate three candidates in order of priority.

FIFA has opened a fan voting channel. The fan voting website is: https://www.fifa.com/the-best-fifa-football-awards/en/best-fifa-mens-player

Fans who want to help their favorite star win the best player, please vote before November 28.
