Worth up to 65 million euros! Le Parisien: Paris is actively promoting Pacho’s contract renewal

October 20th According to "Le Parisien", Paris Saint-Germain is actively promoting the contract renewal of central defender Pacho. Negotiations between the two parties are progressing smoothly, and it is optimistically estimated that an agreement may be reached before the end of the year.

Pacho joined for 45 million euros in August 2024 and quickly became the absolute main force under Enrique. His playing time last season was second only to Achraf. Despite his outstanding performance, he was left out of the Ballon d'Or list, leaving the club dissatisfied.

The media revealed that Paris Saint-Germain executive Luis Campos has regarded renewing Pacho's contract as a priority, and has rarely broken the convention of "discussing contract renewal only after the third year of service". There are two main reasons behind this: First, Pacho's current salary is "insignificant" compared to his status as Europe's top defender, and is far lower than what potential competitors such as Liverpool can offer. Secondly, the club hopes to lock in the defensive cornerstone who has shown "awesome solidity and calmness" in big scenes with a long-term contract to prepare for the present and the future.

It is understood that Pacho's current contract expires in 2029, and Paris Saint-Germain has provided him with a one-year extension offer, and the new contract will be extended to 2030. Negotiations started a few weeks ago, and the players have also shown their desire to stay with the team. Pacho's current value in the "transfer market" has risen from 45 million euros to 65 million euros.

The report also pointed out that Paris Saint-Germain is continuing the contract renewal strategy of last autumn and winter (when Achraf, Vitinha, Nuno Mendes and Enrique were renewed). Next, the club will also advance contract renewal negotiations with Dembele, Barcola, Gonzalo Ramos and Li Gangren, and accelerate the negotiation process with Fabian Ruiz, Mayulu and Mbaye (all three contracts expire in 2027).
